On Tuesday morning the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office’s volunteers met at the North Rome Church of God Warehouse to discuss preparations for the RomeGACares Hurricane Ida Relief Project. 

The Sheriff’s Office volunteers will be departing on Monday morning to provide aid to the Lafourche Parish area of Louisiana with the supplies donated through the RomeGACares Project.

The donated supplies include things like cases of water, food, air conditioners, box fans, disinfectant, personalized buckets of cleaning supplies, and even bags with snacks and toys for children. 

The Sheriff’s Office has stated that they are still in need of donations of bleach and disinfectant (*All of the donations must be dropped off before the 17th of September).    

On top of giving out these supplies to people and providing work aid to structures affected by the hurricane, the volunteers will also be passing out special dog tags to honor the memory of Sgt. Barry Henderson of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

*The Floyd Sheriff’s Office is also asking the community to come to see the RomeGACares Hurricane Relief volunteers off as they depart from the East Rome Walmart Parking lot when they leave at 6:00 AM on September 20th.
