COVID-19 update for Rome, Floyd County Schools

September 12, 2021–1:54 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

All Rome City Schools will remain in phase two of the system’s COVID-19 three-phase plan for another week.

During phase two, all faculty, staff, and students on campus must mask up because the positivity rate at their school is more than 1% over a one-week period.

Last week, 38 new cases were reported in the school system.

Meanwhile, no Floyd County Schools will be in Phase two this week, as the positivity rates remain below 2% at all schools.

In an effort to facilitate remote learning preparation and parent-teacher conferences, Floyd County Schools will have a Teacher Planning Day and Student Holiday on Friday.

Monday, September 20, remains a scheduled Parent-Teacher Conference Day.

Beginning Tuesday, September 21, Floyd County Schools will offer Remote Learning opportunities for those families who chose to quarantine their child as a result of a Covid-19 exposure.

Working in accordance with the Georgia Department of Public Health, Floyd County Schools will not issue mandated precautionary quarantines to students or staff for exposure at school to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

If families choose not to quarantine, it is still important to monitor your child for Covid-19 symptoms.

Students MUST continue to quarantine if there is a positive case within the home.
