NEWS RELEASE

The Rome Fire Department and Rome Police Department are excited to announce the launch of their new websites www.romegafire.gov and www.romepolice.com. Both sites allow the departments to share more in-depth information on the public safety services and programs they provide to the community.

The Rome Fire Department website provides information on fire operations, fire prevention, training, and education. Learn about programs for all ages from youth to seniors and get information on how to participate. Website visitors can also learn about fire prevention including what you need to know about smoke alarms, and how to access free smoke alarms for your home. The Fire Marshal’s Office also provides resources on fire codes, fire inspections, plan reviews, and how to request services.

“The Rome-Floyd Fire Department takes pride in providing prompt and skillful fire protection and life safety services; we are excited to launch the website as an important tool for sharing life-saving information,” said Fire Chief, Troy Brock.

The Rome Police Department website provides information on a variety of police services and programs. Learn about the child safety seat program and safety tips; women’s firearms safety course; and the pastoral police academy. The site also provides an outlet to submit suggestions and anonymous tips. Access police services including assembly permits and criminal history checks. Learn more about the divisions that make up the department and how to apply to join the community-minded team.

“As peace officers, we are passionate about the community in which we serve,” said Chief of Police, Denise Downer-McKinney. “Communication is key to everything we do, so we are excited to have a new platform that provides easier access to sharing and receiving information.”

Both websites can also be accessed through the City of Rome website at www.romega.us.
