Cedartown-Rockmart football game canceled

August 25, 2021–5:33 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Out of an abundance of caution and concern, the Cedartown vs. Rockmart football game will not be played on Friday.

The decision was based on current COVID numbers and pending test results affecting the Cedartown High School football team.

Cedartown High School’s positivity rate remains low at 1.26%, but the football team has a current positivity rate of 8.64%.

As such, the football program will suspend practices and games for a ten-day period.

Meanwhile, the Darlington Tigers will be playing Whitefield Academy on Friday.

This game will take the place of the previously scheduled game vs. Lakeview after Lakeview notified Darlington that they would not be able to play.

The pre-game Tiger Tailgate will take place as planned at 5:30 p.m. by the softball field and the Floyd Medical Center COVID-19 clinic will also still take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Back-to-School Bash for Upper School students will be held on Sept. 10 rather than this weekend.
