Two arrested for possession of an explosive device

Two people are in jail after the discovery of a homemade improvised explosive device.

According to Floyd County Police and Jail records, an officer approached a vehicle in a parking lot on Kingston Road and 26-year old Christen Julia Ray of Rome got out.

She was initially arrested for public drunk and then resisted being placed in handcuffs.

A man in the vehicle, 27-year old Luis Alberto Chacon of Rome, was arrested for a probation violation.

An inventory of the vehicle was conducted prior to it being towed and that’s when the device was found.

It was later confirmed to be explosive.

Ray and Chacon were then charged with possession of an explosive device.
