Thursday is the first day of a brand new school year for students in the Rome City and Floyd County School Systems.
Neither school system is mandating masks for students and staff inside the buildings.
However, Rome City Schools are recommending them while Floyd Schools say students and staff can choose to wear facial coverings.
Masks are required on Rome City School buses.

Thursday is also the first day of class for students in the Gordon County School System.
Be mindful of school buses on the roads and increased traffic, especially in school zones.
