Cartersville Police arrest two in stolen car

Cartersville Police arrested two Green Bay, Wisconsin residents on charges of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of methamphetamine.

According to a Cartersville Police report, an officer located a stolen Nissan Altmia with a Wisconsin tag at a gas station on East Main Street.

The driver, 34-year old Ashley Marie Cornelius was sitting in the vehicle and 28-year old Edwin Javier Rodrguez was standing outside.

When Cornelius saw the officer, she grabbed Rodriguez by the shirt and pulled him inside the vehicle.

With the passenger door still open, Cornelius began to speed away.

The passenger-side mirror of the Altima made contact with the patrol vehicle as the officer was attempting to stop the pair from leaving.

The officer drew his weapon and the suspects were taken into custody.

5.7 grams of cocaine, .2 grams of meth, and various drug-related objects were confiscated.

Cornelius told police that she had permission to use the car, but could not provide the name of the owner.
