[VIDEO] Portion of Summerville Park area evacuated due to gas leak

On July 19th around 10 PM, a large gas leak was reported in the Summerville Park neighborhood area. The areas that were specifically impacted included the 700 block of Charlton Street & Briarwood Circle Northwest. 

According to Floyd County E-911, the Rome Floyd Fire Department and the Rome City Police Department were dispatched to the scene and went door to door notifying residents that reside nearby that they needed to leave the area. 

Approximately 30 houses were evacuated in total. The Atlanta Gaslight Company was also advised of the situation.

All residents were allowed to eventually go back to their property after the gas leak was contained at 10:51 pm.

The cause of the gas leak was not stated at the scene.
