Independence Day activities in Northwest Georgia

Events to celebrate Independence Day will take place in Cave Spring and Rome this weekend.

On Saturday, the Liberty Day Parade in downtown Cave Spring begins at 9 a.m.

Please be aware that Gadsden Road at Fosters Mill Road will be closed down for the parade and traffic will be detoured up Fosters Mill to Alabama Highway.

The Cave Spring Liberty Day Pageants will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. and there will be music from 7 until 9 p.m.

The fireworks will begin at dark.

After a 2020 hiatus due to Covid19, Calhoun and Gordon County’s Star Spangled Celebration is back and will be held at the fairgrounds on Highway 53 this Sunday.

The venue will have three parking lots open beginning at 4:30 pm with gates opening at 5:00.

The event features music, food, vendors, and of course fireworks, starting at dark.

Admission is free.

Cartersville will also have a parade Saturday, beginning at 9.

The celebration then moves to Dellinger Park with arts & crafts, children’s activities, a concert, and fireworks.

Admission is $10 per vehicle.

Then on Sunday, Cave Spring will hold its 22nd Annual Community Patriotic Program.

It starts at 6 p.m. at Rolater Park and will feature patriotic music, a salute to the military, and a remembrance of the 20th anniversary of September 11.

Also on Sunday, Rome‘s Patriotic Party in the Park sponsored by Redmond Regional Medical Center returns to Ridge Ferry Park.

Food vendors will begin serving near the Coca-Cola Stage at 3 p.m. with the live music acts taking the stage beginning at 7 p.m.

The fireworks are set to be shot at approximately 9:50 p.m. from the top of Jackson Hill.

Rome Radio Partners will once again be broadcasting a simulcast on some of its radio stations, featuring patriotic music to go along with the display.

While entrance into the event will be free, parking will cost $5.
