Rome firefighters were able to quickly contain a fire in the River District downtown Saturday.
The fire occurred in the smokehouse at the Foundry Growler Bar at the intersection of 5th Avenue and West 3rd Street.
According to a social media post on the Foundry’s website:
“Nobody was injured and the fire was put out successfully thanks to Rome’s Firefighters. Their efforts to contain and put out the fire and keep everyone safe are greatly appreciated. The smoker is not usable and we will be adjusting our menu moving forward. The Foundry is safe to operate and doing so. We will clean up, assess and update as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and ask that you be patient with us as we prepare a temporary menu. Thank you.”
The fire occurred as the River District ArtsFest was taking place.
