The Cartersville Police Department –

The Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP), a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s fallen law enforcement officers, partnered with HighCom Armor, a global provider of body armor and personal protective equipment, for a month-long campaign this past October.

Every donation collected supported ODMP’s mission and gave donors a chance to win much needed protective gear, valued at over $8,000, for a law enforcement agency of their choice.

The winning donor was the Bartow County Career Academy’s Law Enforcement Program Instructor Don Moody.

The Cartersville Police Department was honored to learn that Mr. Moody chose CPD to receive the protective gear package from HighCom Armor.

Mr. Moody is a former law enforcement officer who served for 28 years just south of Cleveland, Ohio.

Though retired, he now serves as the Public Safety Instructor at Bartow County College and Career Academy, teaching the students patrol, CSI, tactical team, and EMS training. Over 30 of his former students are currently serving their communities in public safety roles.

Mr. Moody’s program relies heavily on local law enforcement partners which is why he chose the Cartersville Police Department as the recipient of the protective gear. According to Mr. Moody, “Those guys are very deserving of this. They provide endless support of our high school public safety program. They are a wonderful bunch of officers.” In fact, Cartersville Police Department’s Deputy Chief DiPrima, volunteers his time to teach a variety of subjects throughout the school year.

The Cartersville Police Department took delivery of the equipment from HighCom Armor in February, 2021. Lieutenant Ryan Firth, Tactical Team Commander said, “This donation comes at a perfect time as we have been working to provide new and updated protective gear to front line tactical operators. This gear will enable us to outfit one more team member this year.”

Cartersville Chief of Police Frank McCann said. “We are very grateful to ODMP, HighCom Armor, the Bartow Career Academy and Mr. Moody for this generous donation.”
