FLOYD COUNTY POLICE

Five people were injured in a fiery crash on Highway 53 between Shannon Circle and Shannon Road just before 11:30 Saturday evening.

According to Floyd County Police, a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued for a wrong-way driver on Highway 53 at Burlington Road.

An Acura RDX was traveling southbound in the inside northbound lane.

As officers were responding, the call came in that the Acura had slammed head-on into a northbound Ford F-150, occupied by four teenagers.

The pickup burst into flames.

The driver and two passengers in the truck got out on their own, but an 18-year old female was trapped.

Floyd County Police Department Pfc. Blake Puckett cut the seat beltĀ and extricated the teen from the burning vehicle.

Police say that charges are pending against the wrong-way driver and alcohol was a factor.

The investigation is continuing.
