STAFF REPORTS

The Rome-Floyd Planning Commission is recommending approval of a rezoning request that will pave the way for a $30 million expansion for Integrated Fiber Solutions.

The property on Westside Industrial Boulevard is two adjacent lots and the rezoning will eliminate a split zone merger.

Missy Kendrick, President and CEO of the Rome Floyd County Development Authority spoke in favor of the application.

“This is one of our very strong existing industries,” she said.  “They are going to be expanding and building a 30,000 square foot facility on this additional acreage.  We’ve already gone through the merge process to make this rezoning possible.  So, I would like to support them in their efforts in expanding and adding 40 new jobs in our community.”

The expansion will consist of four phases beginning this year.

The first phase is expected to be operational by the 4th quarter with the addition of 20 new employees.

Integrated Fiber Solutions would like to see the second phase in operation by 2023 with continued growth over the next 5 to 7 years, adding more extrusion capacity and personnel.

The recommendation from the planning commission will go to the full Rome City Commission for First Reading on Monday.

A public hearing and final action would come on March 22.
