Man arrested in altercation with pregnant woman

A 21-year old homeless man is facing charges in connection with a physical altercation on December 19 in the 400 block of Wax Road that left a pregnant woman with injuries.

According to the arrest warrant, David Dante Haywood hit the victim in the eye, causing blurred vision for over an hour.

He also allegedly struck the back side of the victim’s hand, injuring it to the point where she could not sign paperwork.

Haywood then reportedly fled the scene with the woman’s car keys, phone and purse.

On Tuesday, as deputies were trying to serve warrants in connection with the incident, Haywood fought with them, breaking one of the deputy’s body cameras.

Once at the jail, Haywood threw a phone, shattering part of it.

He is charged with robbery, aggravated battery, simple assault, simple battery, felony obstruction of officers, interference with government property, giving a false name to law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation.
