NEWS RELEASE

The Rome Floyd Chamber announced today the December 15, 2020, scheduled launch of Operation Gift Card, a gift card matching program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is with great excitement that we are able to announce the $10,000 Gift Card Giveaway, thanks to our partners, Community Foundation for Greater Rome and Georgia Power,” said Scott Preston, 2020 Chairman of the Rome Floyd Chamber.

Ashley Garner, Executive Director of the Community Foundation for Greater Rome said, “This is an example of how the Community Foundation partners with other organizations in Rome and Floyd County for the benefit of our entire community.  Partnering with the Chamber and Georgia Power and offering this opportunity to our donors to make such a far-reaching impact in the community directly aligns with our mission.”

“This is a win-win, for Rome and Floyd County.  When Georgia Power can support an effort that helps our citizens, our small businesses, and our community, it allows us to truly exercise our commitment to be a citizen where we serve.  We are thrilled to partner with the Rome Floyd Chamber and the Community Foundation for Greater Rome to make this happen,” said Cassandra Wheeler, Regional Director, Georgia Power.

The one-day-only, online event will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the Chamber’s website www.romega.com Gift cards will be sold in increments of $100.  For each purchase made, the Chamber of Commerce will match the first $100 spent by the consumer until the goal of $10,000 in matching funds is reached.

“Our small businesses in Rome and Floyd County make our community vibrant and continue to be an economic driver for our area.  Supporting these businesses is imperative as this effort helps sustain and grow jobs, more importantly, this is how we can take care of our friends and neighbors,” said Jeanne Krueger, President, and CEO, Rome Floyd Chamber.

Operation Gift Card is part of the Rome Floyd Chamber’s ongoing Rapid, Response, Recovery program which was created in March of 2019 along with https://www.romega.com/business-triage to communicate up-to-the-minute information for Rome and Floyd County businesses to keep the Rome/Floyd economy strong.

“We had learned the success this program had in Cartersville for their small businesses and immediately called on Cindy Williams, President of the Bartow-Cartersville Chamber of Commerce with questions. Cindy and her team have been so kind and helpful, we really want to extend our thanks to them,” said Evie McNiece, Chairman of the Small Business Action Council.
