Floyd County Schools’ (FCS) four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2020 of 94.6% ranks FCS as one of the top 35 school systems in the state, according to data released today by the Georgia Department of Education. This rate also exceeds the State’s four-year rate of 83.8%.
“Achieving a historically high graduation rate is no accident and maintaining a rate at or above 93% is an extremely difficult task,” said FCS Assistant Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer, John Parker. “This is the culmination of 13 years of hard work and perseverance by our students. Graduation is a point of focus for us and is a clear indicator of student success.”
In addition to the system graduation rate topping 94%, all four high schools in the system were also above 90% in the state report. Pepperell High had the highest graduation rate in the system at 97.4%, Armuchee High wasn’t far behind with 96.9%, Model High had a rate of 93.4%, and Coosa High completed the trend of all county high school graduation rates above 90% at 90.6%.
“I was ecstatic to learn the Pepperell High School Class of 2020 Graduation rate a few days ago. Our graduation rate has steadily increased over the last several years to 97.44% for the Class of 2020. This metric is a clear indicator on the overall health of our academic and co-curricular programs and also the perseverance of the members of the Class of 2020 and their families. Each of these students faced unprecedented challenges last spring and embodied the core values that are expected of a Pepperell High School graduate. Not only is this a victory for the Class of 2020 and the Pepperell High School faculty and staff, it is also a victory for the faculty and staff at each of our feeder schools who played an integral role in assisting these students to reach the capstone moment of receiving their Pepperell High School diploma. I am very proud of each member of the Class of 2020,” said Pepperell High principal Jamey Alcorn.
“I am extremely proud of the graduation rate in Floyd County. The graduation rate is a testimony to the dedication and effort of our teachers, administrators, and support staff. This also shows the perseverance of our students as they work hard to graduate from high school. I would like to thank our teachers, administrators, students, and parents for their efforts in achieving a very high graduation rate. It is a team effort from all stakeholders that achieves this kind of result,” said FCS superintendent Dr. Glenn White.
