DOT: Rome airport has $14 million economic impact

The Georgia Department of Transportation has released a Statewide Airport Economic Impact Study that quantifies the economic impact of the state’s 103 publicly-owned, public-use airports.

The study determined that airports contribute $73.7 billion in annual economic benefit to the state, and support 450,500 jobs with a total annual payroll estimated at $20 billion.

According to the report, Rome’s Richard B. Russell Regional Airport – J.H. Towers Field has an annual economic impact $14,533,600, and supports 146 jobs with a total annual payroll of $4,034,900,

Airport supported annual state and local sales and income tax revenues are estimated at $622,230.

The Richard B. Russell Regional Airport sees more than 30,000 visitors annually, according to the study.
