Two charged with drug trafficking

Rome-Floyd Metro officers executed a search warrant at an apartment on Redmond Circle Wednesday and arrested two people on drug and weapons charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records, over an ounce of methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, numerous scales, and glass smoking devices along with two handguns were found in the apartment.

31-year old Avery Lea Holcombe and 37-year old Scotty Joel Venable are both charged with drug trafficking, possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Venable was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation.
