Man struck and killed by train in Gordon County

A 32-year old Calhoun man was struck and killed by a train Saturday evening.

The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. on the tracks off of Highway 136 in Sugar Valley.

According to a story in the Gordon Gazette, the train engineer told authorities that he blew his horn and Gregory Zane Moore attempted to get out of the way but did not get far enough off the tracks.

Moore was hit by the train and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor, and the incident is being ruled an accident.
