Woman accused of starting fire

A 62-year old Rome woman is accused of starting a fire at Northwest Georgia Housing Authority property by setting fire to a mattress Wednesday evening.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Cynthia Arlene McCain also threw a punch at a man and went after another man with a kitchen knife prior to setting the fire.

McCain also reportedly threatened to kill a police officer and kicked another while at the hospital.

She is charged with 1st-degree arson, criminal damage to property, interference with government property, simple assault, aggravated assault, and obstruction of law enforcement.
