The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting celebrating the opening of the indoor courts at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College Monday afternoon.
The ceremony starts at 4:00 p.m. and guests are encouraged to wear masks for this indoor event. T
There will be ample room to allow for social distancing.
The new indoor court facility holds six standard USTA tennis courts with seating for more than 400 spectators. The completion of the facility enhances opportunities to bid on major tournaments, particularly collegiate tournaments that mandate an indoor facility.
The facility is located at 100 Match Point Way in Rome off the Armuchee Connector.
The indoor courts are located at the northwest corner of the tennis complex.
The Rome Tennis Center at Berry College is an award-winning center that hosts local, national, and international tournaments and is the largest contiguous hard-court facility in the country. The center was named a 2019 USTA Facility of The Year and Racquet Sports Industry Magazine 2019 Municipal Tennis Facility of the Year.
The 63-court facility is comprised of USTA standard, asphalt tennis courts, and includes six NCAA regulation courts, six indoor courts, and three center courts for tournament and collegiate play. All courts have lighting and access to shade structures. The entire terraced design is ADA accessible. The facility hosts daily programming to support and build tennis play locally. Local programs and lessons are offered for all ages and abilities from leisure play to competitive league play.
