Yesterday, Governor Brian Kemp signed three bills sponsored by State Senator Chuck Hufstetler (R-Rome) who represents a portion of Floyd and Chattooga Counties in the Georgia Senate.

The first bill, SB 321, increases the scope of practice for both PAs (physician Assistants) and APRNs (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses).  Senator Hufstetler aid, “It in a sense marries the two professions in that they will be equal in Georgia. Too often they have fought against each other. This will increase access to healthcare in rural Georgia and eliminate some of the bureaucracy.”

The second bill sponsored by Sen. Hufstetler and signed by the governor, eliminates managed care groups from steering all of the pharmacy business from the local pharmacies to the out of state pharmacy they own.

The third bill  signed  yesterday will require full audits of the tax credits paid out to the movie industry.  Sen. Hufstetler said, “Georgia gives more breaks than any other state and these hundreds of millions in breaks should be fully audited every year.”
