On Saturday afternoon (July 4th), the summer heat did not deter a group of patriotic citizens that gathered downtown in unity at the Rome Law Enforcement Center to celebrate America’s Independence Day.

The Rome/Floyd Fire Department hoisted a large American flag on their fire-ladder for all to see.

Replicas of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Emancipation Proclamation were also front and center at the event.

Several speakers went up to a star-spangled podium to speak to the crowd on what this holiday means for the people of Rome and Floyd County, and for the Country (The speakers included in the video are: The Johnston Family, Dr. David McKalipDavid Guldenschuh, and Randy Smith).

Shortly after all the speeches were made, the crowd was encouraged to march together (lead by the Greater Rome Georgia Young Marines Color Guard) from Fifth Avenue to Second Avenue.

***WRGA News would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Independence Day!***
