Floyd County Commission meets today

June 23, 2020–6:45 a.m.

STAFF REPORTS

The Floyd County Commission is set to adopt a resolution authorizing the acceptance of a Georgia Department of Transportation contract for CARES Act funding associated with Richard B. Russell Regional Airport when they meet today.

The airport is getting 69,000 through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act approved by Congress and signed into law by the President back in March.

The funding will support continuing operations and replace lost revenue resulting from the sharp decline in passenger traffic and other airport business due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

The funds are available for airport capital expenditures, airport operating expenses including payroll and utilities, and airport debt payments.

Other agenda items for today’s meeting include the reroofing of the Horace Anthony Center and the purchase of additional Bobcat Mini Excavator for the Water Department.

The county commission will also hold an executive session to discuss personnel and property acquisition.

The caucus begins at 5 p.m. with the regular meeting to follow at 6.
