Report: Man assaulted woman, stole Girl Scout cookie money

A 53-year old Rome man was arrested Wednesday for an alleged violent act committed in front of a child.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Stephen Lamond Dean of a King Street address placed his hands and knee on the throat of a woman and choked her.

The incident, which was witnessed by the victim’s child who is under the age of 10, occurred back on February 11 at a location on Fortune Street, according to the warrant.

Dean was charged with aggravated assault and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

He was also charged with theft by taking for stealing electronic equipment from the victim and money from the daughter’s Girl Scout cookie sales.
