Rome-Floyd Chamber selects Thomas Kislat as Director of Membership and Entrepreneurial Development

The leadership of the Rome Floyd Chamber has selected Thomas Kislat to serve as the liaison for membership and will work hard to help grow small businesses in Rome and Floyd County.  Jeanne Krueger, president, and chief executive officer of the chamber, made the announcement today.

Kislat has served as Sales Director for Convention Travel and Special Events at the Forum River Center and Rome’s Greater Convention & Visitors Bureau, since January 2016. His new title at the Rome Floyd Chamber will be Director of Membership and Entrepreneurial Development.

“Thomas has a wealth of experience and we are excited to welcome him as a staff member,” said Krueger.  “He has been involved with the Chamber as a member for many years, and understands the Chamber’s importance in the business community.”

Kislat is a graduate of Leipzig University in Germany with a bachelor’s degree in American Studies and Marketing. Kislat’s background includes global online marketing and graphic design for international retailers, as well as hospitality, event, and sales management with a Fortune 500 recreational company in Atlanta and Germany.

During his time as Sales Director for Convention Travel and Special Events at the Forum River Center and Rome’s Greater Convention & Visitors Bureau his key responsibility was marketing Rome, GA as a convention and leisure destination and to educate, promote and sell Georgia’s Rome as a destination for travelers when they are considering Northwest Georgia. His expertise in recreational tourism led him to establish Forum on Ice as an economic generator for Downtown Rome as it became a flagship holiday event-destination for Northwest GA

Kislat serves as a board member with the Rome International Film Festival, RomeRotary, Floyd Against Drugs and Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful. He is a current participant in Leadership Rome XXXVII.

“Thomas will serve as an additional contact for our Chamber Members,” says Scott Preston, 2020 chair of the chamber, a member of the Rome-Floyd Development Authority, and president of Synovus – Northwest Georgia Division.  “He will also work closely with growing small businesses to help them flourish in Rome and Floyd County.”

Kislat’s first day at the chamber will be April 21st. Thomas Kislat is a German native and moved to Rome with his wife Shannon and son Theo in 2013 from Freiburg, Germany.
