Third Floyd County resident dies from COVID-19

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting that a third Floyd County resident has died from COVID-19.

The 80-year old man had an underlying medical condition.

The other two deaths were a 65-year old female and a 75-year old male, both also had underlying medical conditions.

Statewide, as of 7 p.m. Friday, there were 5,967 confirmed cases statewide with 198 deaths.

1,222 are hospitalized.

Bartow County has 159 cases and six deaths.

Gordon County has 21 cases and there have been two deaths.

Polk County has 18 cases, no deaths, and Chattooga County remains at three cases and no deaths.

Remember, these numbers reflect the county of residence not where they are hospitalized.
