A 20-year old Rome man was arrested on a 1st-degree burglary charge after he dropped his phone, leaving it behind at the crime scene.
According to the arrest warrant, the cell phone case contained Walter Marquez Kirby’s driver’s license and Social Security card.
The victim was able to identify Kirby solely on his driver’s license photo.
Kirby reportedly took a watch and $80 in cash, damaged the victim’s property and caused visible bodily harm to the victim.
He was additionally charged with battery, criminal trespass and theft by taking.
