GORDON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
On New Year’s Day, deputy sheriffs attempted to arrest a man wanted pursuant to a warrant for (felony) probation violation.
The fugitive briefly evaded capture after a rapid foot pursuit in the vicinity of US Highway 41 North and Interstate 75, wherein the fleeing suspect sprinted across several lanes of heavy traffic on the interstate.
He was apprehended a short time later however near the same vicinity, on Pine Drive, after deputies stopped a suspicious van in which he was a passenger.
The man, identified as one Larry Edward Hurley, age 35, of 155 Brookhaven Drive, was also found to be in possession of a number of bags of methamphetamine.
In addition to the original charge of violating the terms of his probation, he now faces new charges of “Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute”.
Hurley was originally on probation for “possession of methamphetamine”.
He is in the county jail today pending judicial disposition again.
