Maryland man arrested on multiple charges

A Maryland man is facing a long list of charges after allegedly running from police on Runway Drive in Rome during a hit and run investigation on Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, once caught, 28-year old Rey Villatoro-Lopez attempted to use his elbow to strike the officer in the face and neck area.

He also allegedly identified himself using a different name, provided a Maryland driver’s license and a Guatemalan identification card with that name on it.

He also allegedly signed his fingerprint card using that other name.

Villatoro-Lopez is charged with felony obstruction of officers, simple battery against a police officer, false statements and writings, giving a false name and providing a fraudulent identification card.
