Gordon Central coach placed on leave following arrest in Rome

A coach at Gordon Central High School is on paid administrative leave following his arrest at his residence on Jones Bend Road in Rome Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 29-year old Robert Walker Epps grabbed a woman by the throat and then hit her in the nose with his forearm.

The victim sustained a broken nose and was transported by EMS to the hospital where she received stitches.

According to the Gordon Gazette, the arrest prompted the Gordon County School System to place Epps on leave pending the results of an internal investigation.
