STAFF REPORTS
Volunteers spent their Sunday cooking and prepping for Monday’s Knights of Columbus Labor Day Barbecue at the Rome Civic Center.
Since 1967, Romans have lined up for what many say is the best barbecue, Brunswick stew and baked beans in town.
Some of the food is cooked in ovens specially designed by Lanny Henson.
The barbecue is a fundraiser and over the last 52 years, the Knights of Columbus has assisted local non-profits to the tune of $300,000.
You can get barbecue plates or sandwiches and bulk sales are available for just about everything on the menu.
Doors open at 10 a.m. Monday and will stay open until 2 p.m. or until sold out.
