RCS announces new positions for 2019-2020 School Year

Rome City Schools would like to announce that two of their current educators will have new roles for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year.

Twilya Toombs, who served Rome High School as a counselor for the senior class, will now fill the position of Student Support Coordinator at Rome High School.

Toombs holds an Educational Specialists degree in School Counseling and a certificate in Educational Leadership. She serves as the Secretary of the Columbus State University Alumni Association Board of Directors and she is a member of the RCS Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, the Jacksonville State University School Counselor Advisory Team, the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Dual Enrollment Council and the Georgia Department of Education School Counselor Professional Learning Team.

With 10 years of experience in school counseling at the middle and high school levels, Toombs hopes to provide a positive educational experience for all RHS students and help them to become life-long learners.

North Heights Elementary third grade math teacher, Lisa Ann Johnson, will serve as a math coach at the new Main Elementary School set to open in the fall of 2019.

Johnson completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Jacksonville State University in 1993 and received a Master’s degree at the same university in 2003. She also holds an Education Specialist Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University she completed in 2005.

As the 2008-2009 RCS teacher of the year, Johnson has worked with elementary students to strengthen their competency in math-related concepts. She has been an educator in the RCS system since 1993 and has spent her entire RCS career teaching at Main and North Heights.

Rome City Schools is happy to have these two educators serving in their new capacity.
