STAFF REPORTS
No one was injured when a vehicle struck the former Long John Silvers building on Shorter Avenue Tuesday.
Rome Police told the Rome News-Tribune right after the wreck that the driver almost struck another vehicle before hopping the curb and plowing into the structure.
It is believed the driver was texting while driving.
Floyd County 911 reported that the inbounds lanes of Shorter were blocked due to the accident at around 1 p.m.
However, they were reopened just a short time later.
By late afternoon, the large hole in the building had been covered.
The building is empty and is for sale.
Again, there were no injuries.
