Man charged with child cruelty
An East Rome man has been arrested on a felony count of 1st-degree cruelty to children and a misdemeanor count of battery.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
48-year-old Christopher M. Carson used a stick against an 11-year-old child, leaving a knot on the victim’s head.
The incident occurred at Carson’s home on Spring Creek Street on Saturday.
Woman charged with aggravated cruelty to animals
A second arrest has been made in an animal cruelty case on Venetian Way in Garden Lakes.
According to the arrest warrant:
30-year-old Ashley Morgan Bollen failed to provide adequate food for a dog, causing it serious disfigurement.
The dog was dehydrated and emaciated, and had a voracious appetite when fed.
Bollen is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and has been released on bond.
27-year-old Bryson Keith Compton had previously been arrested, also for aggravated animal cruelty.
Report: Woman attempted to kick, elbow police
A Rome woman was arrested at her Darlington Way apartment over the weekend on a felony count of obstruction of law enforcement officers.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
20-year-old Amariah Rosetta Lorraine Pollard was acting in a tumultuous manner, damaging property, and placing a 33-year-old man in fear for his life.
She then resisted officers, attempting to kick and elbow them.
Pollard is also charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass with damage to property.
Man accused of scrapping someone else’s car
A Dallas, Georgia, man, accused of stealing and then scrapping someone else’s car, was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Friday.
According to an arrest warrant and jail records:
48-year-old Richard Earl Poore took a 2014 Honda Civic, valued at $5,000.
He forged the owner’s name on the certificate of title and then sold the vehicle for scrap for $325.
Poore is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, altering a motor vehicle certificate of title, and misdemeanor theft by deception.
Woman charged in theft of Hummer
A Rome woman was jailed on Sunday and charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Christie Sheree Hall took a 2007 Hummer H3, without permission, from a location on Berwin Road.
The vehicle is valued at $8,000.
Search warrant leads to drug arrest
A Celanese man has been arrested on drug charges.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
46-year-old Joshua Mitchell Banks was found with a quantity of methamphetamine during the execution of a search warrant at his Beech Street home on February 5.
Authorities also found multiple bags of marijuana, suspected mushrooms, a THC vape, THC gummies, a bottle of morphine, and cyclobenzaprine, along with four handguns, a shotgun, and a rifle.
Banks is charged with possession of Schedule I controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of drug-related objects, and a probation violation.
Teen arrested on drug charges
An East Rome teenager is facing drug charges following his arrest during a traffic stop at Spring Creek Street at East 12th Street on Friday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Terrik Tyshawn Ware was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt and having no working brake lights.
Following a K9 indication, eight bags of marijuana were located in the vehicle.
U.S. currency was also seized.
Ware is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, standards for brake lights and signal devices, and a seat belt violation.
Man accused of possessing meth, marijuana
A West Rome man was arrested on Sunday on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
58-year-old Daniel Bernard Washington was found with suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and two smoking devices at a location at Pike Street and Decatur Street.
Washington is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
Illinois man arrested on drug charges
A man from Freeport, Illinois, was arrested on Highway 140 on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year-old Dustin David Lindsley had three small containers of methamphetamine, a jar containing marijuana roaches, and small bags containing marijuana.
Lindsley is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Report: Man found with meth during execution of warrant
An Armuchee man is facing a possession of methamphetamine charge following his arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Sebastian Duane Barker was found with meth while he was being arrested on a warrant.
Barker is also being held for the Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
A Silver Creek man was arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop on Donahoo Road.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 52-year-old David Allen Hamby was stopped after police saw him holding a cell phone.
Hamby was driving with a suspended license, and suspected methamphetamine was located in his pocket.
Hamby is charged with possession of meth, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and distracted driving.
Report: Man had 658 grams of marijuana
A man initially arrested last Thursday on Echota Circle in West Rome after discharging a firearm and threatening police is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
22-year-old Edgardo Funez-Larios was found with approximately 658 grams of suspected marijuana during the execution of a search warrant.
22 THC pens and digital scales were also located in the home.
Funez-Larios is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Homeless man accused of starting brush fire
A homeless man was arrested in connection with a brush fire on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Jolon Jonelle Young Jr. used an open flame in the wood line behind 36 Chateau Drive, resulting in a fire that began to spread, causing significant damage to vegetation.
He is charged with a misdemeanor count of burning fields, woodlands, brush, or other lands.
