Two facing multiple animal cruelty, child cruelty charges
An Armuchee couple is facing 38 counts of felony cruelty to animals and two counts of 1st-degree cruelty to children:
According to Floyd County Jail records:
51-year-old Robert Michael Thornton and 39-year-old Jessica Nicole Thornton subjected their dogs and two minors to deplorable and unsanitary living conditions.
There was pet waste and trash throughout the Old Dalton Road residence.
Warrant: Man failed to provide adequate food for dog
A Rome man was arrested on Thursday at his Venetian Way home on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the warrant:
27-year-old Bryson Keith Compton failed to provide adequate food for a dog, causing it serious disfigurement.
The dog was dehydrated and evacuated and had a voracious appetite when fed.
Man accused of threatening police
A 22-year-old Rome man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened to shoot multiple police officers at his home on Echota Circle in West Rome on Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Edgardo Funez-Larios also discharged a firearm in the direction of a neighbor’s residence.
Funez-Larios is charged with three felony counts of terroristic threats and acts, one misdemeanor count of terroristic threats, reckless conduct, disorderly conduct, and discharging a firearm near a public street.
Man charged with escape
A Rome woman is charged with misdemeanor escape and numerous other crimes following her arrest at her Beech Street home.
According to an arrest warrant:
46-year-old Reva Marie Maner failed to turn herself in at the Floyd County Jail after being ordered by a judge to do so.
She was denied a pre-trial diversion program and was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
The execution of a search warrant at Maner’s home turned up more than two ounces of marijuana, suspected mushrooms, THC gummies, a THC vape, suspected methamphetamine, a bottle of morphine, suspected cyclobenzaprine, four handguns, a shotgun, and a rifle.
Maner is additionally charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drugs not in the original container, and contempt of municipal court.
Report: Man arrested after preventing woman from leaving home
An Armuchee man has been arrested on charges of false imprisonment, 2nd-degree cruelty to children, obstructing a person from making a 911 call, battery, simple battery, and criminal trespass.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
33-year-old Brandon Michael Hunter closed the door, preventing a woman from leaving the residence on McGrady Road
He also struck the victim and shoved her up against the stairs.
Hunter also kicked the victim’s smart watch and prevented her from calling 911.
He also put his hand over the woman’s mouth to keep her from yelling, and he broke a doggie door.
The incident was witnessed by a 4-year-old child.
Report: Man tried to get change for a fake $100 bill
A counterfeit $100 landed a Rome man behind bars.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
59-year-old Mark Allen Reynolds, whose address is listed as a motel on Martha Berry Boulevard, presented the bogus bill in an attempt to get change.
Reynolds is charged with a felony count of 1st-degree forgery.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
A traffic stop on the Southwest Bypass near Turner Bend Road ended with the arrest of a 45-year-old Armuchee man.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by James Craig Lea was stopped because it was displaying a tag that belonged to a different vehicle.
Lea then failed a field sobriety test, and suspected methamphetamine, as well as open containers of alcohol, were located in the vehicle.
Lea is charged with possession of meth, DUI, unregistered vehicle, concealing the identity of a vehicle, and open containers.
Man arrested for illegal parking, drug possession
A man who reportedly parked his vehicle in the roadway on Paris Lane at Redmond Circle is facing charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
51-year-old Randall Jonathan Wilkerson, of a Fosters Bend Road address, appeared to be intoxicated and had an unnamed prescription drug that was in a pill bottle not prescribed to him.
Willerson is charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, DUI, improper parking, and a probation violation.
Man charged with possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail
A Rome man originally arrested on drugs and weapons charges during the execution of a search warrant at a home on Old Airport Road is facing an additional charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
65-year-old Mark Anthony Pappalardo was found with methamphetamine while at the jail.
He is charged with a felony count of crossing the guard line with drugs.
