Report: Man entered residence, threatened homeowner
A Silver Creek man has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with 1st-degree burglary and terroristic threats and acts.
According to the warrant:
47-year-old Gregory Alan Helms Jr. entered a residence on North Elm Street in West Rome back on December 3.
He also threatened to kill the resident.
Man accused of shoving, abandoning teen
A West Rome man is facing charges of 2nd-degree child cruelty and battery following his arrest on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
18-year-old David Cruz-Guzman Jr. shoved a 15-year-old female to the ground, causing visible scrapes to both of the victim’s knees and her right hand.
He then abandoned the victim, leaving her without a ride home in freezing temperatures.
Cruz-Guzman is additionally charged with battery.
Man charged with theft by receiving, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
A homeless man was arrested in the Silver Creek area on Thursday and charged with a felony count of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
54-year-old Danny Wayne Hammitt was in possession of a stolen Chevy truck, valued at $12,000, on Rockmart Road.
He was also in possession of a firearm and ran from law enforcement.
Man charged with criminal trespass, possession of meth
A West Rome man accused of trespassing at the Tidal Wave car wash is also facing a felony count of possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
41-year-old Joshua Little Cochran went onto the property after hours and broke open five vacuums and emptied the contents into a bag.
He was then found with suspected meth and a glass smoking device with residue.
Cochran is also charged with possession of drug-related objects, criminal trespass, and a probation violation.
