-Georgia Department of Transportation-
The Georgia Department of Transportation recently finished five major projects in Northwest Georgia and opened them to traffic.
The contracts, which totaled more than $51 million, included two Floyd County Projects–an $8.5 million replacement of the bridge on Highway 293 over Dykes Creek and a $1.8 million replacement of the bridge on Rehoboth Road over Spring Creek.
Other projects included:
- Replacement of two bridges on SR 136 over the Coosawattee River and a nearby tributary in Gordon County, $9 million.
- Bridge rehabilitation work on multiple bridges on I-59 in Dade County, $4.9 million.
The largest project is the Villa Rica Bypass in Carroll County. The $26.8 million project was built between State Routes 101 and 61 and now provides truck traffic a route around the downtown area to reduce congestion.
