Report: Man made threats, scaring children
A West Rome man is facing charges of terroristic threats and acts, and two counts of 1st-degree cruelty to children following his arrest on Tuesday.
According to Floyd County jail records:
58-year-old Kelly Dean Tucker told the victim that he was going to burn down a home with the victim in it.
He also advised the victim that she had better call the police.
The incident occurred in the presence of two children, frightening them.
Tucker is also charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Woman accused of dragging child across parking lot
A West Rome woman has been jailed on a felony warrant charging her with 1st-degree cruelty to children in an incident that occurred back on December 10.
According to the warrant:
32-year-old Cassaundra Briann Bennett stepped on a two-year-old child’s hand and then dragged the child across the parking lot in front of the Dollar Tree on Redmond Circle.
Man accused of resisting officers
A West Rome man was arrested on Tuesday at a location on North Broad Street on three felony counts of obstruction of officers.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
33-year-old Devante Jalamol Camp refused to give the police his identification or put his hands behind his back.
Camp then forcefully resisted to the point where he had to be retrained in order to be handcuffed.
Man accused of exploiting an elderly man
A Silver Creek man has been arrested on warrants charging him with three counts of identity fraud, three counts of misdemeanor theft by taking, and a single felony count of exploitation of the elderly.
According to the warrants:
63-year old Loyal Lee Miller took a 2006 Jeep Commander, a 1988 Ford Crown Victoria, and a 2003 Dodge Ram, and then used the 76-year-old victim’s name to create a fraudulent bill of sale.
The victim has been in the hospital, and due to Miller’s actions, has no place to go back to live.
The offenses occurred in August and October of last year.
Two facing drug charges
Two people are facing drug charges following their arrests in the parking lot of a church on Wesley Drive in Summerville Park on Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old Joshua Adam Griffin, whose address is listed as homeless, and 37-year-old Kayla Chenee Delay of Rome had suspected methamphetamine, which was located in the cup holder of the vehicle they were in.
A .38 revolver was also located in the passenger side door.
Griffin is charged with possession of meth and a probation violation.
Delay is charged with possession of meth and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
