-Staff reports-
Correctional Officer Jason Broome has been named the Floyd County Prison’s 2025 Officer of the Year.
According to Warden Mike Long, Broome was recognized for his dedication to advancing the prison’s criminal investigation capabilities and for spending countless hours on investigations.
“Successful investigations of drug interdiction from across state lines and across that state that was bound for Floyd County,” Long said. “The investigations were done through electronic surveillance, and the recovery of cell phones that were very, very damaged and most people would have thrown away without a second thought. However, through countless hours of surveillance and breaking down data that would drive most people crazy, Jason has put together very successful cases. He has received a letter of recognition from our district attorney’s office.”
Meanwhile, Genesys Office Manager Yanci Davis received the 2025 Warden’s Award for her dedication to duty and commitment to the health and welfare of people at the facility.
She is the first contractor to receive this award and has been a dedicated member of the team for more than a decade.
Also during Tuesday’s Floyd County Commission, Ralph Davis was honored for his tenure on the Board of Elections and Registrations, and praised him for his service to Floyd County.
Davis was sworn into the five-person board in January 2022.
During his tenure, Floyd County has repeatedly been one of the first counties to report election returns and has supported voter outreach efforts by the elections office.
