More charges for accused meth trafficker
A Shannon man arrested earlier this week on a trafficking methamphetamine charge following the execution of a search warrant at his Dublin Circle home is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
39-year-old Martin Ortiz Zavaleta, who is a convicted felon, was found with over 28 grams of meth, an AK-47 and a pistol.
He also attempted to flee from officers as they were placing him in the patrol vehicle.
Zavaleta is charged with possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and obstruction of law enforcement.
Report: Man choked pregnant woman
A 47-year-old West Rome man was arrested on Wednesday at his South Hughes Street Apartment on two felony counts of aggravated assault.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Robert Lewis Collum Jr. put his hands around a pregnant woman’s neck and choked her at a food mart on Shorter Avenue.
Collum is also being held on a probation violation.
Man charged with forgery, theft by deception
A West Rome man is facing charges of 1st-degree forgery and theft by deception in connection with an incident that occurred in February of 2022.
According to the arrest warrants:
46-year-old Jeremy Wayne Johnston purchased several items from Air Gas on Spider Web Drive, claiming he worked for a company in Colorado called LPR Construction.
He then signed the paperwork using the name “Randy Nelson.”
The items included climbing and safety gear, valued at $1,357.
Representatives from LPR Construction told police that Johnston had previously worked for them, but did not have the authority to purchase anything using their name.
Man facing charges following traffic stop
A Cartersville man is facing charges following a traffic stop on Shorter Avenue.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Dakota Blake Martin was found in possession of methamphetamine and THC during a search of his vehicle.
Martin is charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and a single count of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Woman charged with possession of hydrocodone
An Armuchee woman is facing drug charges following her arrest in the area of the North Broad Extension on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 39-year-old Amber Nicole Fuller was stopped for going 56 in a 40-mile-per-hour zone.
Fuller was then found with 28 and a half pills that she stated were hydrocodone.
The pills were located in the torn end of a baggie that was in her pocket.
Fuller is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, speeding, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
