On Monday, two area lakes received a gift, thanks to the annual Bring One for the Chipper event held this past weekend.
Two flatbed trucks transported some of the live trees that were collected to Georgia Power’s Rocky Mountain Project on Big Texas Valley Road.
Another flatbed delivered trees to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Lake Arrowhead on Floyd Springs Road in Armuchee.
The trees will serve as fish habitat in the lakes.
110 Christmas Trees were dropped off at the Home Depot parking lot on Saturday to be recycled.
The trees that were not delivered to the lakes were picked up by the City of Rome’s Solid Waste Division and will be ground into mulch.
