Later this week, Downtown Rome will present the first-ever Night Market, which is like a typical farmer’s market, but at night.
It will be this Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m.
“This is a really cool opportunity for those who work during the day and maybe can’t make it to some of the daytime farmer’s markets,” said Kristi Kent with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. “It’s going to be a good mix of produce, crafts, and handmade items. Kind of what you would see at a traditional farmer’s market, but it will be held at night.”
The market will be held at Rotary Plaza (formerly Rotary Park).
“We’ve never tried this before, and I think it’s something that Downtown is trying to see what the interest is out there,” Kent said. “A big part of it is just getting the word out. A lot of people aren’t familiar with Rotary Plaza. That’s because it is a little hidden and a little off the beaten path. Everyone is familiar with Broad Street and some of the side streets, but it’s located on the river between the courthouse and the Forum River Center. It’s that concrete stage.”
The Rome Night Market will feature baked goods, farm produce, soaps, candles, jewelry, live music, and more.
“If you are already downtown, or you work downtown, you can stop by before you get in your car to go home,” Kent added. There is parking at the parking deck. There is street parking as well.”
Once again, the Rome Night Market is this Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m.
