Members of the City Commission met with representatives of the Georgia Municipal Association and State Reps. Katie Dempsey, Eddie Lumsden and Matt Barton this morning to talk about issues of common interest prior to the start of the 2026 legislative session next Monday. Mayor Craig McDaniel reiterated his push for cities to share in the revenue generated by COAM machines. He also emphasized the urgent need for additional funding to address the South Broad Bridge.

City officials discussed mental health issues, coin-operated amusement machines, frivolous litigation, infrastructure and transportation funding, workforce and economic development, the mandate for three weeks of early voting, and taxes.

Officials with GMA said that tax issues, Next generation 911 systems will be among their top priorities for the session.
