Man arrested following pursuit
A West Rome man was arrested on New Year’s Eve at Billy Pyle Road and Brown Fox Drive on multiple charges including a couple of felony counts of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Wagner Feliciano Vicente eluded police on Burnett Ferry Road.
He was clocked going 75 miles per hour on the Southwest Bypass and 73 miles per hour on Burnett Ferry.
At one point, Vicente was driving more than 90 in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.
The Georgia State Patrol was called in to assist, and Vicente gave up.
He is also charged with DUI, three counts of speeding, two counts of reckless driving, running a stop sign, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for having a THC vape pen.
Woman charged with aggravated assault
A Lindale woman was arrested at her Hawthorne Street home on a felony aggravated assault charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
43-year-old Shelley Sharee Allen threatened a teenager with a hunting knife.
She also hit the victim with a metal pipe, causing a cut to the teen’s left arm.
The assault occurred in the presence of two children in the home.
Allen is charged with aggravated assault, 1st-degree cruelty to children, and two counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
Woman charged with insurance fraud
A 43-year-old Shannon woman is accused of submitting a fraudulent fire report to an insurance company in January of 2024.
According to the arrest warrants:
43-year-old Sabrina Nicole Williams obtained an insurance policy and then filed a claim shortly thereafter.
She changed the date and report number on the official Rome-Floyd County fire report in an attempt to obtain money from the insurance company.
Williams is charged with insurance fraud and false statements and writings.
Three arrested for possession of meth during traffic stop
A West Rome man initially stopped for failing to yield to oncoming traffic at North Broad Street and Calhoun Avenue is facing additional charges, including possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Javarick Davon McCain admitted to swapping seats with a passenger and gave police a false name and birth date.
Suspected meth and a glass pipe were then found in the vehicle.
McClain is also charged with possession of drug-related objects, obstruction of law enforcement, giving a false name or date of birth, driving without a license, failure to yield while turning left, and a couple of probation violations.
Two passengers in the vehicle, 43-year-old Sherry Dawn Studdard and 43-year-old Amy Darlene Mays, both of Centre, Alabama, are charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.
Mayes, who switched seats with McClain, is also charged with obstruction and permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
