Every New Year’s Day brings hope, joy, and new beginnings. At Atrium Health Floyd, that joy is multiplied as its expert labor and delivery teams welcome more than 2,000 babies each year.
And today, families are celebrating the very first arrivals of 2026.
The first Atrium Health Floyd baby of 2026 was born at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center at 4 a.m.., weighing 7 pounds, 1.2 ounces, and 19 inches long.
Parents Jessica Dale and Matthew Pierce are delighted to welcome baby Wrenleigh Ann Pierce into their family. Wrenleigh is the couple’s first child.
“We’re deeply honored by the trust families place in us during life’s most special moments,” said Amy Forsyth, Labor and Delivery nurse manager. “We are so proud to continuously provide safe, high-quality care to families throughout our community, and welcoming the first baby of the year is always a fun and special milestone for our team.”
Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center is one of 25 Advocate Health hospitals nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report in its annual list of “Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.”
The list classifies these hospitals as “high performing,” the highest level of achievement possible this year.
Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center was also designated a “Maternity Care Access Hospital” for providing quality care to expectant parents in areas that would otherwise have inadequate access to maternity services.
The parents of baby Wrenleigh are excited to share their special New Year’s story. Interviews can be arranged upon request and will be scheduled at a time that works best for the family.
