The Centre, Alabama Police Department, has arrested one of three suspects being sought in an armed robbery in Floyd County.
The robbery occurred Saturday evening at 9441 Alabama Highway, where the old State Line Tavern used to be.
Cherokee County Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle on Cedar Bluff Road, and a pursuit began.
The vehicle later crashed on West Main Street, and the suspects ran from the scene heading south.
23-year-old Jeffrey Lemar Smith of Gadsden was found hiding in a dumpster off of West Main Street near Watson Drive in Centre.
Two additional suspects remain at large.
Authorities spent several hours searching the area using multiple unmanned aerial systems (drones).
Smith has been charged with attempt to elude.
The armed robbery is being investigated by the Floyd County Police Department, and additional charges are expected.

There is a large law enforcement presence in the area of W. Main Street and S. River Street in Centre, Alabama, as Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office personnel and other law enforcement agencies are searching for three men who are suspects in an armed robbery that occurred late Saturday night in Floyd County.
One suspect has been taken into custody, but two others remain at large.
They are considered armed and dangerous.
Deputies located the suspect vehicle on Cedar Bluff Road, and a pursuit began.
The vehicle later crashed on W. Main Street, and the suspects ran from the scene heading south.
Residents in this area are asked to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
