-Floyd County Police Department-
PFC Brittany Werner and PFC Mallory Boatfield have been honored as the Floyd County Police Department’s Officers of the Year for 2025.
Werner and Boatfield, both school resource officers at the time, received a complaint of a bullying situation between two students. An investigation was conducted, and several red flags were spotted. The officers then, through thorough and diligent investigation, discovered that a registered sex offender had been in contact with the young girls and several of their friends. The perpetrator was charged with numerous counts of sexual crimes against children in both Floyd and Polk counties, as well as Human Trafficking, as it was found that the perpetrator was recruiting other juveniles. This case highlights the department’s commitment and dedication to the safety of children.
Werner and Boatfield were honored during the Floyd County Police Department’s annual Christmas luncheon where the officers of each quarter were recognized.
They included:
Officer of the 1st Quarter: PFC Edwin Orellana
PFC Orellana located a missing dementia patient following a call for service. He stayed with the individual for over an hour and a half until his wife could arrive from out of the county to take him home. Orellana was commended for his compassionate response, which brought comfort to the family of the individual and reflects the care and training of our officers.
Officer of the 2nd Quarter: Lieutenant Rusty Williams
Lt. Williams responded to a traffic accident and went above and beyond to comfort and assist a young driver involved in her first crash. His calm, caring demeanor and professionalism made a lasting impact, reflecting his commitment and dedication to serving his community.
Officers of the 3rd Quarter: PFC Jonathan Bodenheimer and PFC Craig Stanfield
PFC Bodenheimer and PFC Stanfield responded to a 15-year-old who had been shot in the leg. Upon their swift arrival, they discovered that he was suffering severe blood loss.
