The Rome City Commission has approved the fiscal year 2026 budgets.
The general fund is a balanced budget with the use of a fund balance of $3.9 and an increase in operational expenses of around 7.4 percent.
The budgets do include a reduction of the city’s funding for the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority, according to Rome City Manager Sammy Rich.
“We did revise the request from the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority of $150,000; we have reduced that by $75,000. That is the only substantive change we’ve had in the draft as we have gone through the process.”
The vote to approve was not unanimous, with commissioners Mark Cochran and Elaina Beeman voting “no.”
