The Rome City Commission will conduct public hearings regarding three rezoning requests when it meets on Monday night.
One of the applications is seeking a zoning change at 2435 Shorter Avenue from Community Commercial to Multifamily Residential to allow for the construction of 30 townhomes. A portion of the parcel will remain Community Commercial for a future restaurant.
The Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission voted on a motion to recommend denial, but that motion failed by a vote of 3-5.
Meanwhile, the planning commission voted 8-0 to recommend approval of two rezoning requests on Cedar Avenue.
Homeowners at 408 and 412 Cedar Avenue are seeking to change the zoning from Heavy Industrial to High Density Traditional Residential to protect their houses that already exist on the properties.
Monday’s Rome City Commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
During the caucus, which starts at 5 p.m., commissioners will hear a presentation about Extra Special People from the organization’s Rome Executive Director, Sarah Bradfield.
